4 Lessons a Chef taught me about LIFE

The world is full of things to learn and sources to learn from. I live with a Chef. My wife is a Chef. The best there is. I'm not just saying that to make her happy but a lot of her clients agree with me. You see that cake below, she baked it WITH LOVE.

Yeah, so nice... God bless her.

Having seen her do this. Produce this and other wonderful flour products. Doing it over and over and over again, I couldn't help but admire the craft, the dedication and the commitment. I am an observer... and so I observed. In that observing I saw things told to me by her without saying a word, things that matter in life. This happened over years, all the years we have been together.

I have never told her about this "spying" exercise, she'll read of it from the manuscript. And here it is!

Everyone knows my passion for lists and here is another one. A list of all the valuable life lessons I learnt from my wife over many years through her kitchen work that she's so passionate about.

1. Passion Is the First Ingredient
"Baked with love" is not just a catchy phrase to her. She is excited by everything she cooks or bakes. An excitement that starts before she even puts the stove on. She talks over and over about it to a "clueless" me. I never get bored of it because I know it's her passion, a happy place like no other.

With such passion in all that you do. Nothing can escape you. You command like itself.

2. Be Prepared
I have seen preparations that take days, some even weeks. Just for one meal...hahaha. You then seen the value of it when it comes out. A product of such preparation, even as you taste it you can feel it deep down your very soul.

3. Be Open To Experiments
A lot of things that come out of her kitchen are "new things". She studies, researches and learns from many sources then sits down to prepare her own version of what she wants to bring out. Even when you see the pictures you will see that it's so unique, every one of them.

That sets her apart.

4. When it fails, Do it again
Oh, sometimes it doesn't come out. At least in her eyes. What does she do. Rolls up sleeves and does it all over again. Again and again until the desired results. A lot of people stop at the first sign of failure or disappointment, not her and you shouldn't as well.

How do you feel finding out you stopped right before you would strike Gold? It's devastating!

Thank you for reading. It's my pleasure to share with you what I have learnt from the most beautiful woman I know. The love of my life.
